Conservative media is absolutely spit-roasting CNN’s Don Lemon for his latest idiotic comment about women (remember his defense of men’s soccer salaries vis-a-vis women?). No word yet on what Chris Licht, CNNs CEO tasked with making the cabler more attractive to conservative audiences, thinks about this. Here’s how it all went down on Twitter:
Don Lemon: “Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime. Sorry, when a woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s, and 30s, and maybe 40s”
One female CNN insider told me that Don Lemon's comments about Nikki Haley's "prime" did not go over well in the building today, and wondered "how much longer the women should have to be talked down to before there’s a change."
@townhallcom Stop blaming the left for Don Lemon. Don is in a league of his own. He’s an embarrassment
@townhallcom @greg_price11 I'm not a Nikki Haley fan but you have to be 35 to run for President. She's 51. That's really not that bad at all. That's arguably your political prime or close to it for that office.
@townhallcom He's MUCH better reporting the news, interviewing, than casual banter. I never thought this new morning line-up would work.
In Conclusion
The reference I made to a woman’s “prime” this morning was inartful and irrelevant, as colleagues and loved ones have pointed out, and I regret it. A woman’s age doesn't define her either personally or professionally. I have countless women in my life who prove that every day.
@donlemon Please. This is your bosses making you apologize. You have done this before. Remember women’s sports? Yeah babe. Bye.
@donlemon “This morning I said that a female presidential candidate was not in her prime. It was wrong. I apologize to @NikkiHaley and any other woman who was rightly offended.” There. Fixed it for you.
@donlemon Don - we know your heart was in the right place.
I think you were referencing women being in their prime during their “reproductive years”.
Women are always in their “prime” because in my opinion, they get stronger, more courageous and more beautiful as they get older.
